A rapid-acting PPI with faster acid suppression onset (1.5h) due to non-enzymatic activation. (Williams MP, 2003) Shows pH>4 maintenance for 15.3h/day in GERD patients. (Pantoflickova D, 2003) The most potent inhibitor of meal-stimulated acid secretion. (Hatlebakk JG, 2000)

• Stress ulcer prophylaxis
• Acid hypersecretion
• Barrett's esophagus

Side Effects

• Abdominal pain
• Flatulence
• Fundic gland polyps (long-term)
• Interstitial nephritis (rare)
